Quarterly goal check. How are you progressing?

A decision today is twice as worthy as a decision tomorrow.
There are five reasons people put off making decisions.
  1. Not enough data.
  2. Too much data.
  3. Tortured potential political backlash.
  4. Don’t know a decision is required.
  5. Chicken/afraid of losing their job.
The one thing most owners and managers forget is that the lack of a decision results in more derailments of vision than any other cause. Goals are concrete decisions.

With three months into the new year (and most likely your strategic plan), this is a great time to check in and see how you are progressing in achieving your goals.

Strategy Check:
How are you progressing? Are your goals concrete?
With three months of progress, are your goals specific, measurable, realistic targets of accomplishment?
What roadblocks exist in accomplishing your goals? Consider writing action items to get around any roadblocks.

For change to take hold in an organization, it must be linked explicitly and tightly to real performance goals. We’ll do another goal check at the end of the next quarter. Happy planning!
